Prevent Messy Snack Spills with a Handy Cheap Product for Kids

Jan 3, 2009 Janienne Jennrich

The Snack-Trap anti-spill snack cup allows older babies and young children to feed themselves little treats without leaving a mess for mom.

Made for Mom brand products designs and offers The Snack-Trap cup. This clever 2-handled cup (for easy gripping by a toddler) has a specially designed patent-pending soft split lid that allows little hands in and out to access snacks without spilling Goldfish Crackers, Cheerios, or other favorite toddler treats. The split lid on The Snack-Trap lets little hands in to gather snacks, but then closes automatically when the child’s hand is removed. The cup can be turned upside down and shaken around, but the snacks don't fall out.

The Snack-Trap was invented by a mother herself, Christine Moss, and is one of several Made For Mom brand products. This company strives to create “smart and savvy parenting solutions designed to make raising small children easier.” [Made for Mom website, 2009]

The Snack-Trap Prevents Toddler Food Spills

A mother of an 18-month old girl recommends this product highly and suggested it for review. She wrote, “I LOVE the Snack Trap… I use the Snack Trap every time I go to the grocery store. It keeps [my toddler] happy while she's stuck in the cart, and it keeps her from dropping food all around the store.” This mom also finds The Snack-Trap useful while her toddler is in the stroller, the car, or at church to keep her child quiet without making a mess. Average Amazon Customer Ratings

At the time of this writing, 100 people had rated The Snack-Trap on Amazon, giving this toddler food cup an average of 4 out of 5 stars. When looking over the ratings, it appears that most parents have been very pleased with the cup overall, but some smart older toddlers have learned to take the special lid off after a while. Also, a few people reported that the split lid eventually began to wear out. This might prompt one to spend the extra $1.75 when ordering and buy a spare. There were also reports that dirt could get in and crumbs could get out, but as one mother on Amazon put it, “BUT, before this product was invented, what was the alternative? A bowl? My 1 year old dumps those over within seconds.” [Amazon Customer Reviews, Julie P., Michigan, 12/2008]

Thanks for the great idea. I had not seen these before. I am ordering one for the car, house, and a spare. I like the penguin design best. I would like to see them make a snack holder with a teddy-bear design. Or maybe a rainbow? Cute.
