Everyday children's' products such as plates, cups, and bottles top this year's Gold Star Ziggits Award list for Best Kids Products.

This week, the owner of the children’s Web site ZiggityZoom.com announced the winners of the first annual 2008 Ziggits Awards. In the Best Kids Products category, it was clear that consumers are looking for safety and convenience as winners included a stainless steel sippy cup and silicone baby bottles. The Gold Star Award winners are listed below:

Alex Super Art Table with Paper Roll and Two Benches

This durable wood table won Dr. Toy’s "100 Best Children's Products" Award and Oppenheim Toy Portfolio's "Platinum Seal" Award. It features a chalkboard top, a paper roll with child-safe cutter, three cup holders with cups, a canvas storage bag and two matching benches. ($199.99, ASIN B0006GUY0Y)

SkipHop Palette Plate Feeding Set

This adorable feeding set for babies and toddlers is shaped like an artist’s palette and features three colorful, microwave-safe bowls with lids, a non-skid drink area, and matching utensils. This product is free from BPA, PVC, and phthalates. ($28)

SkipHop Mate (Stay-Put Mat and Plate)

This skid-resistant place mat comes in three color choices and features a three-compartment plate and a fork and spoon that can pop on and off the mat. The plate is microwavable, and the place mat has a cute smiley-face to keep kids entertained while their food is being prepared. This product is free from BPA, PVC, and phthalates. ($20)

Thermos Foogo

The trusted Thermos brand now has a convenient sippy cup made of vacuum-insulated stainless steel. According to the Thermos Web site, a food safety study was conducted in 2006 comparing the Foogo to three competing sippy cups for “insulating efficiency (internal product temperature) and the difference in growth rates of potential foodborne pathogens.” The study found that apple juice and milk stayed cold longer and produced fewer bacteria than other sippy cups. ($14.99 and up)

Prince LionHeart Silicone Bottles

Safe and hypoallergenic, these bottles are made of medical grade silicone. The bottles contain no open pores for bacteria to grow. They contain no BPA, phthalates, PVC, latex, or lead. They are microwave, freezer, and dishwasher safe. They are designed to eliminate bubbles, which reduces colic and spitting up. ($12.99 and up)

Stokke Tripp Trapp High Chair

This unusual looking high chair is designed to slide right up to the table so the child can interact with the rest of the family. It is fully adjustable to grow with your child and comes in a variety of colors. ($249.99)

Tooth Tissues

Even babies need good dental care, so two dentists designed these textured, disposable wipes formulated with xylitol, which is a natural cavity fighter. The wipes contain no fluoride or paraben. ($4 and up)

WordLock

Just as the name implies, WordLocks are combination locks that use letters instead of numbers. This is a great product for families who can’t remember the numerical combinations of the locks around their house. They come in many different colors and styles, from large padlocks to small bike locks. ($9.99 and up)

It’s clear from this year’s list of best kids’ products that parents are mostly interested in practical, safe products that they can use every day. Visit the Ziggits Awards Web site for the complete list of winners, including the best toys, books, Web sites, and more.
