» Grandma07 - Infant's Toys

Hello!
I am soon to become a grandmother and am hopelessly out of the loop when it comes to the new infant's toys available - and anynew safety regulations monitoring them - and what we should look for as consumers from a safety standpoint.
What can you tell me!

You'll find that infant toys have gone through a huge transformation over the years, and most companies produce very good quality, very "cool" toys. However, there are a few main things to keep in mind from a safety perspective when you purchase infant toys. Size of the toy and any parts that can come off is a big thing to watch for, as we all know any baby toys will get tasted at some point. Watch out also for long pull cords that could get wrapped around the baby's neck, any sharp edges, and any excessively loud noises. Pay attention to labels that state recommended ages for a toy. Some of the things to look FOR include qualities that will stimulate the infant's senses, including bright/contrasting colours, different textures to feel, and a variety of sounds.
Hope this helps in your search for infant toys. Be sure to let us know here of any outstanding toy finds.
